Full-time Police Officer and Part-time Police Officer

 

The Newport Police Department is currently accepting applications for full-time police officer and part-time police officer positions.

 

The Newport Police Department embraces the concept of community policing, while providing police services to include traffic and criminal law enforcement, emergency response, criminal investigations, and special events.  The Department serves a community of approximately 4,800 residents and is conveniently located between Morehead City on the Crystal Coast and the City of Havelock, home to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.

 

Applicants with previous law enforcement experience, advanced education, or advanced training in criminal justice or related field experience preferred.  Applicants must pass a comprehensive background investigation, must possess a NC driver's license at the time of appointment, and meet the minimum standards required for certification as a criminal justice officer as oulined by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Standards Commission.

Firefighter/Paramedic 

Town of Newport Fire Department is accepting applications for full-time FF/Paramedic positions.  Our department covers a seventy five square mile area with a steadily increasing call volume of over 2300 in 2018.  The department currently runs one 24 hour ALS unit and one 12 hour ALS unit.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Applicants must possess a high school diploma, Valid NC Driver’s License, NC EVD
NC Office of Emergency Medical services credential of EMT-Paramedic,
NC FF II, Haz - Mat Ops, Healthcare Provider CPR certification. 
Applicants must also possess ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS.
(NIMS) ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800. 

Applicants must also pass oral boards in Carteret County prior to beginning work.  Applicants must be physically capable of carrying out the duties that firefighting and EMS require. 

Starting base salary $45,474.00 plus built in overtime.
